Community-based Competitive Fund: Empowering Local Actions for Landscape Fire Management

The Community-based Competitive Fund under the Landscape Fire Management in the Western Balkans (LFMWB) Programme supports innovative local initiatives that reduce fire risk and strengthen landscape resilience in fire-prone areas. By combining local knowledge, landscape fire management (LFM) approaches, and cross-sector collaboration, the Fund enables communities to actively protect their environments, livelihoods, and cultural heritage.

Through 12 national and 2 cross-border projects implemented across the Western Balkans, the Fund generates evidence-based solutions that inform LFM practices while delivering tangible on-the-ground results that contribute to long-term resilience and a shared culture of fire management in the region.
