Fostering Regional Synergy: LFM Regional Network in the Western Balkans
In the Western Balkans (WB), the Landscape Fire Management (LFM) Regional Network takes center stage in fostering regional synergy and facilitating cross-boundary collaboration and knowledge exchange. The members of the network are the Regional Fire Monitoring Center (RFMC), the Country Focal Points (CFP) representing Country Partner Institutions (CPI) in the WB, and the Country Project Staff (CPS), with support from the Global Fire Monitoring Center (GFMC) in Germany. Within this network, the RFMC has a coordinating role and acts as a knowledge hub. This network is dedicated to driving change and enhancing the resilience of the region’s landscapes. The collective vision focuses on LFM and fire prevention that extends beyond national borders, fostering regional landscape resilience and unity in the face of regional LFM challenges. The aim is to enhance cross-boundary collaboration by establishing a long-lasting regional network that will contribute to knowledge exchange and cooperation on LFM. Moreover, the network contributes to jointly creating regional LFM strategies and policies with direct involvement of the CPI. In the WBs, the LFM regional network represents not only the region’s commitment to preserving its landscape’s values but also its dedication to safeguarding the landscapes and ensuring a more sustainable future for all. Through this collaboration, the network members create opportunities to work at the national, regional, and international levels, actively participating in various LFM projects and initiatives. The network is a testament to the power of collaboration and a shared vision of resilience and unity related to LFM.Regional and national networks (science-practice-policy interface) (Abbreviations: CPI- Country Partner Institutions, GFMC- Global Fire Monitoring Center, RFMC-Regional Fire Monitoring Center, WB-Western Balkan)
