Тhe photography exhibition “Landscape Fire Protection through the Camera Lens” continued its journey across the Western Balkans with the official opening at Hani i 2 Roberteve in Prishtina.
Featuring 20 powerful photographs, the exhibition showcases the region’s natural landscapes while highlighting the importance of prevention, cooperation, and collective action in reducing the risk of landscape fires.
The event brought together representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, the Embassy of Switzerland in Kosovo, and stakeholders dedicated to strengthening landscape fire management across the region.
Mr. Menderes Ibra, Chief Executive of the Kosovo Forestry Agency, operating under the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, emphasized that resilient landscapes can only be achieved through joint efforts, timely prevention, and strong regional cooperation.
“This exhibition demonstrates how cooperation among the Western Balkans can be strengthened through a shared initiative” – said Mr. Ibra.
Ms. Judika Peters, Deputy Head of Cooperation at the Embassy of Switzerland in Kosovo, highlighted that Switzerland is proud to support the Landscape Fire Management in Western Balkans Programme, strengthening prevention, preparedness and cooperation across the region.
“Landscape fires know no borders, and these photographs send powerful and diverse messages about the importance of protecting our landscapes.”- emphasized Ms.Peters.
Speaking at the opening, the Programme Team Leader, Mr. Cvetan Nikolovski, said that Landscape Fire Management in the Western Balkans Programme is promoting an approach that looks beyond fire itself.
“We believe it is essential to understand the underlying causes of landscape fires, focus on prevention, adapt to the impacts of climate change, engage local and vulnerable communities, and strengthen cooperation among institutions, experts, and citizens”- said Mr. Nikolovski.
The exhibition in Prishtina will remain open until 2 August, after which it will continue its tour across the Western Balkans.
The exhibition is organized within the Landscape Fire Management in the Western Balkans Programme, funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and coordinated by Farmahem.
