On 30 October 2025, in the framework of the SDC’s Landscape Fire Management in the Western Balkans (LFMWB) Programme, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management (MAFWM) hosted the third workshop in Belgrade, Serbia.
The workshop aimed to achieve consensus on the final version of the landscape fire management (LFM) country report among all stakeholders, establish common agreement on LFM guidelines, identify LFM challenges, and initiate the process of developing the LFM gap analysis.

The event opened with welcoming remarks by Vladimir Nikolić, LFMWB Country Focal Point from the MAFWM, and Cvetan Nikolovski, Team Leader of the LFMWB Programme. They emphasized the importance of continuing the multi-sectoral national process for LFM and emphasized the need for effective responses to challenges posed by landscape fires, land use changes, and climate change.
During the workshop, Ana Stefanović, Country Project Staff, presented the final draft of the LFM Country Report for Serbia, introducing participants to its structure, data sources, analysis, and key findings. The report, developed collaboratively with members of the National LFM Network, represents the first comprehensive national document addressing LFM in Serbia.

In the second part of the workshop, participants engaged in group work facilitated by Aleksandar Karaev, aimed at identifying systemic gaps in Serbia’s LFM system. The analysis covered institutional, technical, legislative, and financial challenges across all phases — prevention, preparedness, suppression, and post-fire management.
The workshop concluded with the 28 representatives from various institutions and civil society organizations jointly validating the country report.
