On 26 June 2025, the National Landscape Fire Management (LFM) Network of Kosovo gathered in Brezovica for a workshop focused on advancing the National Strategy for adaptive landscape management and LFM. Bringing together representatives from 20 institutions, the meeting was held within the framework of the Landscape Fire Management in the Western Balkans (LFMWB) Programme, financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). The meeting was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development of Kosovo, in cooperation with the Regional Fire Monitoring Center (RFMC).

Building on a series of previous National LFM Network meetings and workshops, the event marked a significant step toward finalizing Kosovo’s National LFM Strategy and Action Plan. Mr. Tahir Ahmeti, Country Focal Point from the Ministry, moderated the workshop and emphasised the importance of institutional coordination and cooperation in the joint development of LFM Strategy. Ms. Arlinda Gashi, LFMWB’s Country Project Staff, presented the draft version of the Strategy and Action Plan, reflecting the participatory input from institutions and organizations gathered during the previous meetings.

Moreover, the participants engaged in group work sessions, focusing on refining the Action Plan to ensure alignment with national strategic planning methodology and operational priorities. The session was moderated by Mr. Aleksandar Karaev, who facilitated the group work discussions around practical activities and measures. The workshop concluded with a commitment from participants to support the Strategy’s finalisation and validation in the upcoming meeting. Stakeholders reaffirmed their readiness to collaborate in strengthening national capacities, improving inter-institutional cooperation and enhancing landscape fire resilience.
