25.04.2025

A two-day meeting of the National Landscape Fire Management (LFM) Network in Montenegro was held on 15–16 April 2025 in Ulcinj, bringing together network members to refine the country’s National Strategy and Action Plan.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of Montenegro, in close collaboration with the Regional Fire Monitoring Center, under the framework of the SDC-funded Landscape Fire Management in the Western Balkans (LFMWB) Programme.

The meeting focused on advancing the draft Strategy for Adaptive Landscape and Landscape Fire Management in Montenegro and shaping an action-oriented plan for its implementation. The first day featured a presentation of the draft Strategy by Srdjan Sasic, LFMWB Country Project Staff, followed by an open discussion and participant input. With the guidance of moderator Aleksandar Karaev, the focus then shifted to developing the Action Plan. Participants were divided into groups to identify key priorities and propose actionable steps aligned with national objectives.

Through group sessions and expert contributions, participants refined strategic goals, discussed institutional responsibilities, and identified priority actions for effective and coordinated landscape fire management.

The event concluded with a shared commitment to finalize the draft Strategy and Action Plan through a participatory process and to take concrete steps toward resilient and adaptive LFM in Montenegro.
