The development of the landscape fire management (LFM) strategy took center stage in Prevalla, Kosovo*, as members of the National LFM Network—including experts, policymakers, and other key stakeholders—gathered on March 20–21, 2025, to finalize the National Strategy on Adaptive Landscape Management and LFM. This significant meeting was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Rural Development supported by the Regional Fire Monitoring Center and the Regional Executive Agency as part of the SDC’s Landscape Fire Management in the Western Balkans Programme. The aim was to shape the Action Plan that will guide Kosovo’s efforts in sustainable LFM.

The first day set the stage with an in-depth review of the draft National Strategy, led by Arlinda Gashi as a Country Project Staff of the LFMWB Programme. As participants explored its vision and core objectives, they shared their insights, constructive feedback, and commitment to jointly refine the strategy. The session transitioned into the development of the Action Plan, moderated by Aleksandar Karaev who introduced key steps for turning strategic goals into tangible actions. Through interactive group work, the participants engaged in lively discussions and collaborative brainstorming to build an effective and well structured Action Plan.

During the second day, the participants presented their progress, developing together the LFM Strategy Action Plan. What emerged from this process was not just a document, but a shared vision built on science, practice, and policy perspectives with a strong local commitment.
