The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management of Montenegro, in collaboration with the Regional Executive Agency (REA) – Farmahem from Skopje and the Regional Fire Monitoring Center (RFMC), organized the 6th workshop on the development of the Landscape Fire Management (LFM) Strategy. The workshop was held in Podgorica as part of the Landscape Fire Management in the Western Balkans (LFMWB) Programme, financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

Representatives from more than 18 institutions in the fields of science, practice, and policy participated in the workshop and contributed to the development of the draft LFM Strategy. Mr. Darko Stojanović, head of the Directorate for Forestry, Hunting, and Wood Industry at the Ministry, highlighted the significance of the Strategy’s development as a vital step toward improving understanding, planning, and response to the challenges of landscape fires while expressing his gratitude to all contributors involved in the process.

The workshop concluded with valuable discussions and insights, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in developing the LFM Strategy. By addressing key topics such as LFM, socio-economic impacts, and alignment with regional and international frameworks, participants laid a strong foundation for advancing adaptive landscape fire management in Montenegro.

The next workshop, scheduled for March 2025, will focus on defining the Action Plan for the LFM Strategy, ensuring effective implementation and long-term landscape resilience.
